TSR HEREBY AWARDS THE TITLE OF
Musical Geek of the Year 2005
to
MADEMOISELLE T-
Whereas she not only sang the whole theme from Part I of Steve Reich's Tehillim from memory, never having performed it, but having learned it only from a recording;
Whereas she not only did so whilst on a nighttime post-prandial cruise on San Francisco Bay, unprovoked, just because it was fun;
Whereas she not only also accompanied herself by clapping the underlying percussion rhythm; but
Whereas she then produced a photocopy of the lyrics, which she CARRIES AROUND WITH HER IN HER WALLET.

Congratulations, Mlle T-! In praise of your extreme geekdom, I am hereby sending you a copy of Four Organs: Turn it up! This one deserves to go to eleven.

In other news, bravo to fellow blogger Tom Meglioranza for his very fine showing in this year's Naumburg Competition! And kudos too to the winner Sari Gruber, whom I first heard when she was still in college and who was memorable even then.

I had at least hoped to be nominated...are you releasing the noms publicly? On another front, it's out with the old, huh? I was running strong on the blagues du jour for some time, but all good things must come to an end.
