From yesterday's NYT:
The mezzo-soprano Lorraine Hunt Lieberson has canceled her appearance in the opening night of Tanglewood on Friday because of illness, a spokeswoman said. She was to sing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Mahler's Eighth Symphony, conducted by James Levine; she is to be replaced by Yvonne Naef.
(Did I mention I leave for the Berkshires tomorrow?)

Naef will be fine, but she won't be LHL. Deepest sympathies. :-(

Oh, you lucky man!! Please give my love to those beautiful grounds. And Ozawa Hall, and the Stockbridge Bowl. I don't suppose you could find it in your heart to go skinny-dipping in my stead, could you? ;-) Enjoy your visit, even sans Lorraine.

How I miss Tanglewood. Please also give my regards to the shed and grab a cardamom bun at Seychelles!

No skinny dipping, alasâthere were children around, ma'am! But I was just a short stroll away from the Bowl and did stop by to give the waters and the mosquitoes your greetings.
Seychelles? Where dat? No cardamom bun on this trip (damn!) but did have a mighty fine chocolate mousse cake at Castle Street Cafe in Great Barrington...
