Brian Shields at KRON-4's new blog, The Bay Area Is Talking, was kind enough to link to my post about Joseph Zitt's adventures working in one of San Francisco's major record stores. Joseph and I also traded a couple anecdotes about Asian tourists (how could he possibly know that "Ariribee" meant Avril Lavigne?), but my favorite is:
Your story [about Japanese girls screaming Shanneru! Shanneru!] reminds me of a customer that I had a few weeks ago who was looking for "Ammery." As it happens, there was a new hit release by an R&B artist, Amerie, which I quickly got for her.
The customer handed the CD back to me, and said, "This no Ammery. Ammery, she white and she old."
At that point, the light dawned, and I got her the Anne Murray album she wanted.
