Signs o' the Times
A "new era," indeed. Not only has the center supertitle screen been reinstated...

...and mini-supertitle screens for standees installed under the overhang...

...but the standing room waiting line has even been repainted and all of the standee numbers respaced, so that we don't have to bunch 30 ticketholders into 4 yards' worth of asphalt anymore!

Take that, New York, with your "Plazatrons" and your "Jude Law" and your "Japanese Patient" and your "people sitting in Times Square watching opera and Nelly Furtado"! We have fresh paint—on the ground!
(plus a Ballo that lasted like 14 hours, or at least it felt that way)

14 hours?? Do say more.

details in a separate post if i have the time. for now i'll just say it is a bad sign if midway through Act II one is sitting there mentally counting the number of scenes left in the show.

I thought the mind-numbing boringness of the production was an inspired directorial decision. It perfectly conveyed exactly how boring life must have been in 18th Century Sweden. The authenticity was chilling.
